Jane Galvan, DPT, OCS

Professional Experience

Jane specializes in manual therapy including soft-tissue techniques and joint mobilizations. She uses Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation(PNF) and therapeutic exercise techniques to improve motor control, strength and flexibility. She believes in educating her patients in the anatomy and physiology underlying their condition and her clinical reasoning during their rehabilitation.

Having been a licensed physical therapist for 29 years, Jane has extensive outpatient experience in treating both surgical and non-surgical patients of all ages, including the elderly. She is board-certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association.

For 12 years, Jane was a full-time professor in the UCSF/SFSU Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy, teaching kinesiology and orthopedics. She is currently an adjunct academic and clinical instructor with both the UCSF/SFSU and Samuel Merritt University Doctoral Programs in Physical Therapy.

Personal Background and Interests

Jane grew up in San Francisco and has lived in the Bay Area for most of her life. Her first college degree, from San Francisco State, was in Technical Theater Arts with a minor in Spanish. Her interest in human anatomy and physical therapy began when she became a massage therapist.

Jane’s interests include hiking, traveling, listening to all genres of music, and playing the guitar. She enjoys exploring the Bay Area and going to Giants games.Jane-2
