Professional Experience

Ann, owner of Balance in Motion Physical Therapy,  enjoys helping patients live with less pain through manual therapy, targeted exercise and teaching awareness of posture and movement. Recently she has been studying Fascial Strain Counterstrain which she has found to be very powerful for relieving pain and removing inhibitions of movement.

While Ann’s primary experience has been in outpatient orthopedics, she has also worked in neuro-rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities and home health. She gained broad experience with ergonomics while working in a Kaiser Occupational Medicine department.

Ann enjoys treating patients of all ages, from the physically challenged elderly to injured young athletes. She is moderately fluent in Spanish and likes having patients who speak Spanish.

Personal Background and Interests

Ann was born in New York state and came to San Francisco as a teenager, living in the Mission District in the 1970s. When she had to leave her previous clinic location, at 20th and Shotwell St., she felt very fortunate to be able to move to the former site of China Books where she had bought acupuncture books years ago.

Ann enjoys reading and playing the guitar. She and her husband take great pleasure in hiking and spending time with their two grown sons, their daughter-in-law and grandson. Ann discovered yoga, meditation and the Sanskrit language as a teenager; these continue to be strong elements in her life.Ann-2
